In 1982, Robert Mapplethorpe photographs the bust of the bodybuilder Lisa Lyon, with the fists arranged together in front of the pubis, to play with the apparent masculinity of the musculature of a woman. Designed in continuity of this shot, the bust still demonstrates an effective muscular contraction with fists uncovering the pubis. But, there is a new hiding alike a Vito Acconci's Conversion, where the virilised body tries to maintain a femininity by the metamorphic withdrawal of his penis between his thighs.
